Comes with a certificate of authenticity and a collector guarantee. This painting shows large surfing waves crashing onto the famous sandy beach at Watergate Bay under a beautiful blue summer sky. Watergate Bay Inspired by the beautiful beach at Watergate Bay with it’s vast stretch of sand, big Atlantic swells, and high sea-beaten cliffs. This is a dramatic landscape and is one of the county’s wildest coastlines. Considered by many as one of Cornwall’s best beaches. The beach itself is around 3 miles from Newquay on the North Cornwall coast, stretching out for two miles of golden sand, imposing cliffs, and untamed sea. Spectators, surfers, and world-class kite surfers flock here for the enormous waves providing a spectacular sight on any day. Privately owned, the beach is dog-friendly year-round and if the sea-breeze gets too fresh, there’s an excellent café “The Beach Hut” right on the beach with great views of the rolling waves and also award an winning restaurant “Zacry’s” close by. Medium I like to work in oils because of their versatility. You can layer the paint so that it has a translucency. Also It is so robust a medium I can scrape the paint back or scratch into it too. Personally, I find that working in oils is the ultimate art medium. It allows me to create a wide range of effects, from subtle layers to bold strokes, and it also provides me with the necessary tools to bring my artwork to life. For me it is a timeless medium. Background Studying film and video art at the University of Plymouth has impacted on the way I paint. Creating a sense of movement and escapism in my work is important to me. If the viewer can feel they could walk across the sand or dive into the sea that is what I want to achieve. I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2008 at the University of Plymouth.
